How do I turn on/off closed captions on my Amazon Fire TV?

If you are watching a full episode on The CW app, follow these instructions to turn closed captions on or off on Amazon Fire TV:

While the episode is playing, press any navigation button (up, down, left, or right) on the Fire TV remote. The play bar, player controls, and other options should now be displayed on the screen.
Use your remote to navigate to CC/Audio, and press Select on your remote.
Under subtitles, select None to turn captions off, or English to turn captions on.
Press the Back button again to return to the episode.
